Garuda Home-stay, a review for Hotel Garuda Sikkim
by saikotic on Aug 20, 2008.   Rating:
I first went to Garuda in 1996.. it used to be a lil house in heaven then.. The cottage like entrance.. the very friendly owner and his lovely and courteous wife... It seemed like more of a home-stay than a hotel... and that sweet nostalgia stayed with me over a decade and more.. In April 2008 i went back to Garuda to connect ... read more »
Newly Renovated?, a review for Tourist Lodge New Delhi
by cheeseholiday on Aug 20, 2008.   Rating:
I think the Tourist Lodge must have been completely renovated since the last reviewer visited. I've stayed there 2-3 times and had nothing like the experience mentioned. Rooms are fairly spacious, spotless and with new 'modern' furnishings (wardrobe, desk, mini-sofa, coffee table, double-bed etc.) Bathrooms are fully tiled ... read more »

This is my second time at Shahi Palace-Jaisalmer, I was here 4 months ago in March, now it’s in the middle of August and I’m here again. Last time I was here for 18 days after traveled around India from place to place almost 2 month, that time Shahi Palace was a perfect place to stay still after a long journey – Comfortable ... read more »

Jagat Niwas Palace, a review for Jagat Niwas Palace Hotel Udaipur
by catherinew on Aug 13, 2008.   Rating:
We had a fantastic stay here in August 2008. Its location is great - right by the lake, with lake views from some of the rooms and the restaurant. We had two rooms - one of them was particularly nice as it had a lovely traditional balcony jutting out over the courtyard with a padded bench seat etc. Spotlessly clean, nice bathroom, ... read more »
Hotel Sheela Agra, a review for Hotel Sheela Agra
by catherinew on Aug 13, 2008.   Rating:
You can't beat the Sheela for location - its about as close to the Taj as you can get, just a hundred metres or so from the East Gate. Its also got a nice small garden which was good to eat out in - by candlelight in the evening. Its also amazingly quiet as its within the 'no car' zone around the Taj. This was the cheapest ... read more »
Jasvilas Jaipur, a review for Jasvilas Jaipur
by catherinew on Aug 13, 2008.   Rating:
Jasvilas was probably our favourite hotel during our recent stay in India (August 2008). The rooms were impeccably clean, serviced daily, with great bathrooms (one of the few baths we had during our stay in India), toiletries etc. We had two rooms for the six of us, and they provided comfortable extra beds. The rooms were ... read more »
Jyoti Mahal Guesthouse Review, a review for Jyoti Mahal Guesthouse New Delhi
by catherinew on Aug 13, 2008.   Rating:
We stayed at the Jyoti Mahal for two nights on our arrival in Delhi in July 08. We thought the hotel was great value for money - its tucked away in a quiet corner of Pahar Ganj, but seemed a real cut above most of the other hotels in the area we walked past/ate at. Its beautifully arranged 'haveli' style around a small ... read more »

Maria Lodge Colaba, a review for Maria Lodge Mumbai (Bombay)
by byronic on Aug 12, 2008.   Rating:
I've stayed there on a number of occasions 2007 and early 2008. Its bare bones with your own shower and shared squat toilets that are at one end of the hall. I made friends with the manager and the hotel boys who where all seasonal workers from Kerala. If you feel dingy romanticism and a squat toilet are the cat's meow, then ... read more »
