Bhakti Kutir Goa

located just off colomb beach, inbetween palolem and patnem beaches (in south goa), bhakti kutir is a good alternative to your standard beach-front huts that line palolem and patnem. it is situated about a 5 minute walk from the beach, in a wooded area which is comparatively peaceful, but still within earshot of the waves. the place is really atmospheric, with tastefully done 'rooms' (huts/cabanas made out of palmleaf, etc.), good service and a 'community' feel. bhakti kutir is 'eco-friendly' (well, relatively speaking, at least) - with compost (squat) toilets and a complete non-ac policy. bhakti kutir has 22 cabanas, a good restaurant, in-house yoga classes (these were brilliant!), an ayurvedic massage/treatment centre, a small shop and a beauty parlor. comfort-wise, bhakti kutir is basic - huts have no warm water, western-style loos, tv's or ac - but then, this is fairly standard for accommodation in the area. . . . . all rooms have mosquito bed nets. . . . . an added bonus is that rooms appear to come with a spray-bottle of citronella essential oil in water, which does wonders for keeping mosquitos at bay. Bhakti Kutir Goa Rates and Room Information
(pricewise, it is more expensive than the simpler beachfront huts... but definitely worth it if there is some give in your budget.) i think about 2,000 rupees for a double.
