This is a real ramshackle old wooden place, [i]very[/i] basic stuff, but great for meeting other travellers, hearing stories about the islands, etc. Good atmosphere, dirt cheap. Just watch out for all the mozzies - the worst place in the Andaman Islands for them. It gets really busy at certain times, especially after the ferries from Chennai and Kolkata arrive. There are dorm beds for 5--80 Rupees from what I remember. A bed here won't ever cost you more than 100 Rupees I think, unless prices have gone up a bit since 2006.
