God's Gift Arambol Goa
House No 411, Girkar Waddo, Arambol, Pernem, Goa.
Family-run guesthouse with two blocks, a pricier one near the beach and a cheaper one set back a little from the coconut grove. There's two types of room: the more expensive ones are more like a small apartment as they have a Western bathroom, kitchennette, fridge and communal balconies that look out over the coconut grove towards the beach and the sea. The cheaper rooms are smaller, have their own Western bathrooms, have their own small balconies (with limited sea views) but don't have the kitchen. I lived here for most of the Winter in 2005/6. This guesthouse is a great balance of good value-for-money with a little bit more luxury than you normally get in Arambol. The balconies are great for chilling out in a hammock and the food in the restaurant is good and cheap (the Chilli Chicken (Rs.65) is excellent). The D'Souza family (Constancio and Ruby, Baptis and Rosie) that run the place are extremely welcoming and friendly; by the time I left I was being treated like one of the family. It's right by the beach but just a little bit out of the village which means it's still nice and quiet even in high season. If you want to be near the beach but value your peace and quiet, it's ideal. Really highly recommended. Western bathroom, Balconies, Small Kitchen, Fridge, Restaurant. God's Gift Arambol Goa Rates and Room Information
Varies according to season / length of stay. Rs. 400 or so is the going rate for the more expensive block, although over Xmas / New Year I'd imagine you'd pay Rs. 500 or so (if any rooms were available at all). If you're arriving in peak season, it's worth ringing ahead and booking - rooms get snapped up pretty quickly. The rooms in the cheaper block are Rs. 250 to Rs. 300 in peak season, although the few that have a communal toilet are cheaper. Again this depends on the length of your stay.
