We stayed there in November 2008 mainly because I couldn't find anywhere less expensive and reasonably habitable (looked at the Brindhavan but didn't fancy it at all).

My room in Hotel Ajantha was a bit gloomy.
About 200m east of Hotel Ajantha there's the quite new Ajantha Inn with big modern rooms. It can get a bit noisy if you catch a room facing MG Road.
