During my recent visit(Sept 2009) to Jaisalmer I stayed at Shahi Palace for 3 days and enjoyed every bit of it. On Mr Dev's recommendation I also undertook a Camel Safari to a "non-touristic" location away from crowd and enjoyed it thoroughly. We stayed here for one night and had a great experience. From the moment we arrived we were looked after. A jeep collected us from the train station and we had access to the jeep for the duration of the stay - it is located about 10 mins walk from the fort along a dark road which isnt so great for walking at night.

I hope it is okay to post a review more about the owner than the property. I admit I haven't been to Jaisalmer since Dilip opened his hotel. I did meet him when he had his internet cafe and he was so genuine. We really trusted him, so asked him to arrange a ride for us to Udaiper. Obviously the owners of this place has learned the value of Lonely planet. They are extremely friendly and very helpfull. Often the mentioned me to remember to mention them in the Lonely planet guide, not that i ever wrote to lonely planet.

Very nice hotel, with good rooms and a nice restaurant on the roof (with a great view of the fort). The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel will pick you up from the station on request.
