We stayed in the Ritz Plaza for 2 days early August 2009. I talked to their reception on the phone a few times and got worried about communication problems in English (I am a dutch national, my hindi is 'limited'). With so many choices in Amritsar, the only reason to choose this hotel would be to stay at a Raj-era building. It was "the" place to stay in the '60's and '70's but I'm afraid, no longer. I went to check out many of the budget hotels near the Golden Temple, and they are pretty run down. This one is not, it feels nearly new, and still the price is reasonable (I think I paid Rs 400 for a double).
