During my recent visit(Sept 2009) to Jaisalmer I stayed at Shahi Palace for 3 days and enjoyed every bit of it. On Mr Dev's recommendation I also undertook a Camel Safari to a "non-touristic" location away from crowd and enjoyed it thoroughly. I would not recommend staying here. I went by all the reviews on this site before making my overseas reservations. We only stayed here for one night as part of a tour but I'd recommend this hotel for its location and it's wonderfully clean pool.
We are a family of four and they couldn't really accomodate us in a single room but we squeezed into a room with a double and an extra bed. It was only for one night ut it ws fine.

We stayed here for one night and had a great experience. From the moment we arrived we were looked after. A jeep collected us from the train station and we had access to the jeep for the duration of the stay - it is located about 10 mins walk from the fort along a dark road which isnt so great for walking at night.
