During my recent visit(Sept 2009) to Jaisalmer I stayed at Shahi Palace for 3 days and enjoyed every bit of it. On Mr Dev's recommendation I also undertook a Camel Safari to a "non-touristic" location away from crowd and enjoyed it thoroughly. I would not recommend staying here. I went by all the reviews on this site before making my overseas reservations. Read thru all the fine print and understood that there was no cancellation policy ... not in writing and not verbally. We only stayed here for one night as part of a tour but I'd recommend this hotel for its location and it's wonderfully clean pool.
We are a family of four and they couldn't really accomodate us in a single room but we squeezed into a room with a double and an extra bed. It was only for one night ut it ws fine.

We stayed here for one night and had a great experience. From the moment we arrived we were looked after. A jeep collected us from the train station and we had access to the jeep for the duration of the stay - it is located about 10 mins walk from the fort along a dark road which isnt so great for walking at night.
