Set back from the main road it is actually quiet, I think there are about 20 rooms, some air-conditioned, basic but clean and well kept. Central location, convenient for cultural and shopping centres. I liked the place, got on well with the staff and found the facilities more than adequate. It lacks 'hotel' facilities like bar, pool, gardens. Some foreign guests, but mostly Indians. Good value: I strongly recommend. Same people own [B]Apu Guest House[/B]. More centrally located in Mylapore, I haven't stayed there but sometimes visit staff who used to work at Ram. Hot and cold water. . telephone. . television (Indian terrestrial only). . I paid R715 a night for AC room in July/August. Food prices are local cafe prices, not hotel prices. Paid same price following year in Jan.

I thought this hotel was expensive for what it offered. I'd like to find a better value hotle that's easier to find as we rang the hotel 4 times from our mobile and the desk staff gave our driver poor directions. Is this the correct number now for the RamGuesthouse? It seems to be missing a digit (7 instead of 8) and I get a continuous engaged tone from Europe. I have dialled +91 44 2183049?
