I paid Rs

Overall:

Positives: Comfortable place, pleasant staff

I paid Rs. 1265 (Rs. 1100 + tax) for an AC double in the last week of October, 2007, and was quoted Rs. 935 (Rs. 850 + tax) for a non-AC double. An extra bed was provided for Rs. 200.

The restaurant was okay. The beer mentioned in the description above has to be brought from outside, as there is no bar in the hotel. There was, however, a refrigerator in the room. There is a bottle-opener fixed to the bathroom door on the inside.

I found the neatly packed meals very useful for the train journey from Dehradun --- the Indian package containing puris, vegetable, etc., is a good deal at Rs. 95. There is also a "continental" packed meal, which I didn't try. They arranged a taxi from the hotel to the station 1 km away, for a charge of Rs. 150. On the whole, it is a clean, friendly, and efficient outfit.

The hotel accepts credit cards, but the receptionist said that sometimes they cannot do so because of network glitches. So, it is perhaps advisable to swipe off a certain minimal amount from the card when the network is up, in case one wants to reduce cash transactions.

An addendum to the contact information: 7 Court Road, Dehradun 248001; phone +91 (135) 2657776 and 2656608; fax +91 (135) 2656406. The place is located very close to the Doon Hospital.
