Jyoti Mahal Guesthouse Review

Overall:
Location:
Staff:
Cleanliness:

Positives: Clean, quiet, internet access
Negatives: Some rooms a little smaller

We stayed at the Jyoti Mahal for two nights on our arrival in Delhi in July 08.

We thought the hotel was great value for money - its tucked away in a quiet corner of Pahar Ganj, but seemed a real cut above most of the other hotels in the area we walked past/ate at.

Its beautifully arranged 'haveli' style around a small courtyard, with each room opening out onto an open hallway. The doors are lovely old wooden doors, and the rooms we stayed in although simple, were clean, with nice old furniture. We had attached bath (lots of hot water), and both rooms we had had additional space with table/couch/chairs etc. One room was much smaller than the other though, and one had much more modern (and quieter AC).

You eat upstairs in a nice quiet roof area - good, reasonably priced breakfasts.

A real advantage is the free internet access - there were three ground floor computers open for use 24/7 whilst we were there. Its also very close to the Metro station. Don't get put off by the road outside - its very dingy. Most taxi drivers didn't know where it was - but telling them it was behind the Imperial Cinema seemed to do the trick.
