I first went to Garuda in 1996.. it used to be a lil house in heaven then.. The cottage like entrance.. the very friendly owner and his lovely and courteous wife... It seemed like more of a home-stay than a hotel... and that sweet nostalgia stayed with me over a decade and more..
In April 2008 i went back to Garuda to connect with those college days.. Garuda has changed so much... The cottage like entrance has changed... the small hotel has beome a tall building..but the people havn't changed.. The owner has greyed but still connects with the guests as easily as he used to...
The hotel has grown in terms of room-number... but one thing hasnt changed is the homelike feeling....
The reataurant was serving Vege stuff as there was Bird-flu in Sikkim then...but anyways even that felt amazing.....
No wonder its so popular with the foreign backpackers..
But the clear winner is surely the View(especially from room number 19)..
