Positives: Tariff, facilities, host, owner, location
Negatives: we have to walk little bit
HOME AWAY FROM HOME, is a very nice, neat and wonderful place to stay at Nainital at low cost.
I got the address of this stay from indiamike hotel section. I queried in Indiamike about the place but no one had idea about the place. Anyway I decided to book this.
We called the person in his mobile and he introduced himself as a retired colonel and his name is Kiran Dangwal. We deposited 50% of the room rent into his HDFC account. And finally we reached nainital on april 19th.
This home stay is situated above the surya hotel (zoo road). We have to walk around 500metres from the main road and 1.5KM from the Mall Road. He was there to receive us. And finally we reached the destination HOME AWAY FROM HOME of Mr. Kiran Dangwal. And really it was a nice surprise.
HOME AWAY FROM HOME
This is a big three stored building where in the ground floor, some small rooms are there. In the left part of first floor, there are rooms for the cook, driver etc. The right part of the first floor is an internet café of Colonel.
The third floor is the real surprise. Right part is Penta House. If no guest is there, then the colonal will be there. It is just like an independent house with two bedrooms one big living room kitchen bathroom etc etc. Refrigerator, Oven, Washing machine etc are available there.
Our portion was the left part of the third floor. It is also a big house with 4 bedrooms, kitchen, toilets, big living room. It can be easily divided into two parts with two bedrooms each for two different groupsl. We were three families and we took all the four rooms. It was just amazing. Around 7000ft above the sea level. We can see the whole Nainital city from there.
The best amazing part is the tariff. He is charging only Rs 800/- for one room (in peak season ie May-June). In off season it will be Rs400/- only. We reached there on April last and he gave the room for just 400 rupees which is really unbelievable in a tourist place like Nainital. (The other entire hotel will charge a minimum 1000/- rupees for a very very small ordinary room. If you want a room like this in any other hotel, then you will have to pay at least 2000/- per day in off season)
He was really friendly. He provided washing machine too to us without any extra charge. Within two days, we became very close and started to use his kitchen for making tea, coffee, breakfast etc. We never went through such a good experience in our life (except in our home). It was really amazing and unbelievable. Jeevan bhai (his servant) is a wonderful cook.
Next the tours and Excursions. He has two maruthi vans. First day we went for Naini tour, second day Tal tour, third day Muktheswar, fourth day Almora, and fifth day Ranikhet.
He charged only 600 for first day, 800 for second and 1000 each for other days where the other tour operators will be charged 1000, 1200 and 1600 respectively.
The other main good experience is that, he knows all the corners of the district and he will show you so many hidden treasures within the trip. And as an army man he have somany relations there. He has a friend in Bhimthal who has Asia’s largest collection of butterflies and we went there.
The only drawback is, as a army man, he will use his ‘ARMY Quota’ without fail. But it will never affect his driving.
in short the name says the truth. a real HOME away FROM HOME
