Excellent value for money hotel in the heart of Bangalore
Overall:
Location:
Staff:
Cleanliness:
Positives: Convenient Location, Price, Vegetarian Food
Negatives: Somewhat tired - probably never ever renovated !
The decades old Brindavan Hotel does not bother to advertise or even to set up a website. It is content to run by word of mouth, and it is always busy! Location and price are its USP. The Brindavan is right on MG Road, a minute away from the Cauvery Emporium and happening Brigade Road. The rooms are large, clean but somewhat tired. The lobby looks like it has never seen a coat of paint since inception. However, the pricing is most reasonable ranging from Rs 700 upto Rs 2500 for a deluxe suite room - nothing considering the excellent location. There is just one restaurant with fixed timings for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Traditional South Indian vegetarian is all that is offered but it is of the best quality, and well patronised by local residents. Good South Indian filter coffee is also served, quite a feat to get a decent cup of coffee in hotels these days.
Abundant shopping is available on MG Road, lively Brigade Road, and a short walk away at Commercial Street. Nearby Church Street boasts a wide array of restaurants and pubs. The main railway station and bus stations are a short auto rickshaw ride away. The hotel has a travel desk which will arrange bus / train / taxi / tour bookings at minimal rates.
In my opinion, this is the ideal hotel for the casual visitor / tourist, who seeks a central location in a safe, decent property without breaking the bank. I would certainly return.
