ideal base for Pandua/Gaur

We stayed at the Golden Park for four nights last November. We arrived at Malda late at night on the Kolkata train and were, after a short wait, picked up as arranged. The hotel is large and new-ish, and at that time of year had very, very few guests. The room was spotless and, for this class of hotel, well-appointed. Everything worked. The staff and management were friendly and extremely helpful: the manager arranged good transport for us to travel to and about Pandua and Gaur. My wife has a coeliac condition, and the restaurant and kitchen were wonderful in meeting her gluten-free dietary needs. The food was very good, and, because the hotel also runs a hospitality-training school, we were never short of eager (if slightly anxious) waiters!
The advertised views from the hotel were indeed all green and superb. I guess the only problem some people might have would be the 5km distance to Malda. Because we didn't want to take chances eating out it didn't worry us. I found Gaur and Pandua so interesting I would like to go there again: if I did, I'd choose the Golden Park again.
