The guest house is at the end of the bridge as you enter Mandvi from Bhuj. Buses will drop you off opposite it if you ask. It was originally a cardiac hospital and is very clean, peaceful and has airy rooms, some overlooking the estuary where sometimes Greater Flamingoes feed. The guest house is run by Vinod Bhatt. This is one of the most pleasant and welcoming guest houses we have stayed at in India - we have just made our second visit after 4 years. The place is really well kept. Vinod has taught himself how to do electrical and plumbing work so everything functions. He can also provide a lot of advice about Mandvi. Just ask. Mandvi itself is an interesting, clean and friendly town and you can easily spend a few days exploring the town and buying local handicrafts (Tie-dye and jewellery) in the bazaar. There is a sandy beach on either side of the estuary where you can walk for miles. Highly recommended. Rooms with attached bathrooms. Kitchen available downstairs to cook snacks etc on payment of gas charge. Washing machine also available. Vinod plans to have AC and Tv installed this year in some rooms. STD, ISD and PCO available. There is no restaurant but there are restaurants in town(10-15 minutes walk away) but tea, coffee, toast, soft drinks and mineral water are available. It IS pleasant, but not cosy or anything (then again we stayed in the smaller rooms as all the nicer ones with balconies were taken. Maybe that's why.) and the location right by the bridge is a bit weird. But to the facts:
POSITIVE:
- super-friendly ... read more »
