Flea pit!!!!!!!!!. Do not be fooled by the flashy (?) website or the clean lobby area of this hotel, you will be bitterly disappointed when you see your room!!!. We booked the 'Presidency' room for two nights recently. On arrival at the hotel, we checked in and were shown to our room. We were led down a filthy corridor, as we were being let into the room we noticed that the pane of glass above the door have been removed/broken and had been replaced by two filthy (and I mean filthy!) pillows stuffed into the gap!!. Once in the room things just got worse. The room had been described to us as non-smoking and having A/C. There was some metal trunking that projected into the room from a hole above the door (above the two skanky pillows!) and terminated in an open end! It looked half constructed and did not function as an air-con (I am only assuming that this the purpose of the trunking of course!!). The overall condition of the room was very poor, it stunk heavily of cigarette smoke and it also had a dank, musty odour. The furniture was ancient and showed it, the wardrobe had a load of old newspaper and a skanky looking sheet or curtain in it. The round bed had dirty linen on it and looked so old that the mattress was almost certainly alive with bed bugs (there was evidence of previously crushed ones around the bed). The rooms curtains were half hanging off the curtain rail allowing anyone to look into the room. The shower room was filthy, really horrible!. I could go on but I think you get the picture!. I went down to reception to complain and ask for a better room, when I was told that we had the best room in the hotel I knew that we would have to leave. So we did!. We went straight across the road and into the hotel opposite, the very new, very clean, excellent and highly recommended 'Hotel Grand' !!! This hotel is in a truly different league to the 'Tourist Lodge' and unbelievably their semi-deluxe rooms cost (almost) exactly the same, Rs. 1350. Dirt and filth in all areas of room and en-suite!!
