Umaid Bhawan, along with Hotel Fifu in Jaisalmer, were our two favorite hotels in all of India. The outside of the hotel is just as beautiful as the inside. THere are several sitting areas on different floors to relax and read a book or just simply enjoy the escape from the craze of Jaipur. Rooms are really nicely decorated, ... read more »

Ok this was a nice hotel but it isn't cheap. We paid RS1600 for a room. The handle fell off the door on day 1 and the shower was broken. The hotel was well presented but i felt it was a little sterile. I never felt the vibe that i expected for a guesthouse.
The restaurant was very nice, food excellent.

Lovely hotel. It is beautifully decorated. The pool and pool area is loveley. The rooftop restaurant is quality. Price extremely reasonable. Staff great. Brilliant internet access. Basically everything you could want at a good price. A real find. I understand they are building (and may have finished) a second hotel. I don't ... read more »

Clean. Quiet. Nicely appointed rooms.
Management helpful but a little uptight.
Modern bathroom.
We liked this hotel a lot. It is decorated with Rajathani patterns. There are terraces and alcoves where one can sit and read or eat dinner.
Good service.
Highly recommended. ... read more »
In the end

In the end, after knocking back the two first rooms, a very comfortable but relatively small room (compared to our other Rajasthan accommodation all which cost less) but a good bathroom. We had asked for a private balcony, but ended up overlooking the pool with a small balcony accessible to everyone - we had to comprise. Food ... read more »

I have stayed in this hotel 2 times. The price is reasonable for what you get. The family the runs it is very nice. When I returned to them last time, they recognized me right off and remembered my name even thought I had not called ahead.
The food is also good. I really like eating on the balconies there. There isn't much ... read more »

This hotel was okay. One thing that was great was all the hot hot water that came pouring from the tap as soon as you turned it om (no geyser here!). After coming from Udaipur I thought the staff was exagerating when they said to just hire one of the autos they have lined up outside but they were so very right. Trying to ... read more »

My wife and I stayed at Umaid Bhawan in Jaipur in Nov. 2005, and it was our favorite hotel during our entire trip in India. This is not a luxury hotel, but it's got everything you need at a reasonable price: excellent service, good food, spacious rooms, hot water, and Western-style toilets.
The hotel is in a suburb of Jaipur, ... read more »

I stayed here for a week and a half and had a marvelous experience! It's run by a family, with two brothers who are extremely kind and helpful. They even drove me to the travel agency to get my plane ticket and dropped me off at the airport when it was time to leave.
I especially appreciated their assistance in arranging for ... read more »
