The complex is situated in a compound with mature trees for shade, close to Kaziranga National Park. The surrounding countryside is mainly rice paddies and tea gardens. There are three types of accomodation - luxury rooms in two blocks, cottages and tents. A model for how to run a very successful tourist business. The management and staff are always checking things are OK for you. Wildgrass employs local people from the surrounding villages and makes a real contribution to the local economy. Resort policy is eco-friendly and the guides are experts, especially young Maan Barua (from the owner's family) and his friend Polach. We really enjoyed our 8 day stay here. Luxury rooms have attached bathroom. Cottages and tents share bathrooms, usually two to one. Swimming pool. Beautifully kept grounds. Very good food available in the large colonial style dining hall. Wild Grass can arrange jeep and elephant rides in the park and will send a guide with you. Nature walks in the countryside around Wild Grass can also be arranged. Luxury rooms double 850 R's. Cottages double 450 R's. Tents double 300 R's. These were prices for 2002.

Great place, very helpful staff. Nothing too much trouble. Book well in advance as it's very popular with tour groups. Good jeeps and drivers. Involved in local conservation efforts and working with local communities. Prices have increased since 2002 but still good value in 2006. Will definitely go back! ... read more »
