If everyone can get out of jail free because there are far worse criminals not only free but in positions of power would be a great jail emptier.

Allow me to rephrase, MeLud.

If the powerful can get out of jail free because the people who expose them can be jailed for far FAR lesser alleged offences then it would be a great jail filler.

Nick, you sound like a kindergarten student of how things work at government level of which Police is a pawn, and as with a kindergarten kid, you are focused on a small toy that was provided to you, and you are happy with it while the big daddy does what he need to do.

That seems to have been the gist of a lot of posts.

No it is not, and sorry to say, if you have not got it by now, then no amount of future posts will get you there

Police is just a little bit independent in UK.

Ultimately, they are under the control of a politican, and are also subject to a government department which decides, in each instance, whether a prosecution is worth bothering with or not. But scooping up a bail jumper is routine. It's not not going to happen.

What's not routine, of course, is the wildly expensive police coverage of the embassy. That may or may not have been encouraged by political hands. Sure, the thing is not black and white. But people here are talking as if arresting him for not paying parking fines would be a purely political and USA-serving act.

Sure - you can continue to uphold the proud tradition of the British justice and the ‘little bit independent ‘ British police who were so flush with cash to drop a few tens of millions of pounds to apprehend the bail jumper. This charade will go on only as long as it takes for us to fuel up the plane and get the reception committee ready. Then, he will have to pay the parking fines here. May should sleep assured of the attaboy from Trump himself.

Sky News interview of Ms. Robinson, the lawyer for Assange making some of the points being discussed here in a very eloquent manner. I would urge everyone - on either side of this debate - to watch it in full.

One cannot get just a little bit pregnant. The end result is the same.

All I am saying is that, putting to one side the expensive policing and the probability that UK is in the habit of brown-nosing (as they so wonderfully put it) America, there was little chance of the guy not being arrested for skipping bail.

I suppose I could also add that, having shafted the land of the free, chances were always going to be high that he was going to get a taste of that freedom.

Election cancelled because of bribe plans. A first for this election. And BBC has picked this up before any Indian outlet.

Link.

I recollect hearing the news a couple of days ago. If I recollect it was said that the polls may be cancelled at Vellore. However last night it seems we got the confirmed news.

It also seems that the speculation was going on from 2nd April onwards.

Madhya Pradesh Woman Shamed, Forced To Walk With Husband On Shoulders

In the news, which people just look the other way, is this

https://www.ndtv.com/cities/madhya-pradesh-woman-shamed-forced-to-walk-with-husband-on-shoulders-2022797

BHOPAL:

A married woman in a tribal-dominated village in Madhya Pradesh's Jhabhua district was beaten up and shamed because she ran away from her home, with a man she loved, the police said. The 27-year-old woman was also forced to carry her husband on shoulders as a punishment. Two people have been arrested.

In a video that was widely shared on Saturday, the woman, carrying her husband on shoulders, struggles to walk as a group of men around her hoot and try to shame her. An old man laughs and dances in front of her and another man hits her with a stick. She can barely carry her husband's weight but she is forced to continue to walk.
